“Today’s was an interesting assignment. I had never made masks before and I remember a neighbor of mine had a real scary mask which he would scare me with, when I was a child. That is the only mask I remember, till date.

Requirements for WEARABLE MASKHalf a meter of cloth (I used a piece of blue denim)Wool (I used blue wool)Thread & Scissors

Time required: 45 minutesCost: 5$ or less (I used scrap material, so it cost me nothing)

Process:
Step 1: Cut the piece of cloth into a long piece (longer than your face). Cut out two eyes, a nose & mouth combined and cut the lower edges of the cloth into triangles shapes.
Step 2: Make a number of holes on the upper part of the cloth, above the eyes. Tie wool in thick bunches so through the holes so that it looks like artificial hair/dreadlocks.
Step 3: Use another strand of wool and fix it to two opposite ends of the mask for wearing.
The use of denim as the primary material of the mask makes it contemporary. the woolen hair gives it a wild look. It is an expression of the wild side of that which is hidden. I used some red light while taking the photograph to add some more energy into the frame.”
