My vase: Unit of measure – A rose
Since my vase will hold flowers (probably roses) I decided to use a rose as the unit of measure.I think a smart person designed my vase – it is 2/3 of the height of my purchased rose (Golden proportion).I put the roses into the vase and found that 5 roses sit nicely across the diameter – not too tight, not too loose. Laying out the roses symmetrically in the circular opening I find that 13 roses is the optimum number of roses to fit nicely into this rose and sit beautifully. Great marketing by Woolworths (where I bought the roses) – they only come in dozens! So 12 is not the perfect number for my vase. I need another bunch. But now I only have 11. So I need to buy another vase. Hmmmmmmm!
But now I need to measure where my vase will sit and decide if the proportions are correct. How will I think about measuring that?
Is there no end to this measuring business?
